Tell Congress: No Troops on Our Streets

The message:
President Trump has deployed thousands of military troops to American cities – and is threatening to do it again – in an egregious abuse of power.

Earlier this year, he responded to protests against his cruel mass deportation campaign by deploying federalized National Guard troops, federal agents, and active-duty Marines to Los Angeles. Then, he manufactured an emergency to temporarily seize control of Washington, D.C.'s police department while deploying D.C. National Guard troops and troops from several other states to patrol the city. His threats against other American cities have only escalated as well, including his deployment of armed federal agents and military troops to Memphis and Portland.

Make no mistake: President Trump's power grab is meant to create fear in major American cities. But no matter what he claims or what uniforms they wear, federal agents and military troops are bound by the Constitution, and must uphold our rights to peaceful assembly, freedom of speech, due process, and safeguards against unlawful searches and seizures.

And regardless of whether the president cites false crime statistics, villainizes immigrants, or claims peaceful protest is insurrection, sending armed federal agents and military troops into our communities is unjustified and dangerous. Tell Congress: Military troops do not belong on our streets.

NO more endless proxy war with Russia

It’s time to end this reckless proxy war with Russia and say NO to sending more weapons to Ukraine, especially long-range offensive systems like Tomahawk missiles, which dangerously escalate tensions and risk direct conflict with a nuclear-armed power.

Let us remember what, Washington seems to have forgotten:

For most of the 18th, 19th and the majority of the 20th century—Ukraine was part of the Russian Empire and Soviet Union. That was the geopolitical reality.  And throughout that entire time, the United States never considered Ukraine a vital national interest worth going to war over—especially not one 5,000 miles away.

The American people deserve a foreign policy rooted in diplomacy, not escalation—in defense, not intervention.

Insurrection Act "A Dangerous Precedent"

"A Dangerous Precedent"

Today, we face a critical moment — one that tests not only our laws but our principles as a constitutional republic. When a President invokes the "Insurrection Act of 1807", it effectively suspends the "Posse Comitatus Act of 1878"........temporarily allowing the U.S. military to operate as a domestic police force, and make arrests under certain circumstances. Let that sink in: the military, designed to defend against foreign threats, turned inward — on American soil.

Once the military is used against civilians under the justification of “restoring order,” it sets a dangerous precedent.

And let’s not kid ourselves — this kind of power has been abused before.

Past administrations, both Republican and Democrat, have weaponized federal agencies — from the IRS targeting political opponents, to U.S. intelligence agencies conducting warrantless surveillance on American citizens, without proper oversight. To forced incarceration of law-abiding American citizens - of -Japanese decent during WWII. Now we’re talking about escalating that abuse from audits, investigations, warrantless surveillance, and ethnic incarcerations — to boots on the ground and guns in the streets.

Make no mistake: what is done today by this (R) administration will absolutely, inevitably, be repeated — and expanded — by the next (D) administration. The precedent we set in fear or convenience today becomes the weapon of tyranny tomorrow.

So I ask you — to take action.
