S.J. RES. 42 Stop The Saudi Arms Deal

PETITION: NO ARMS FOR TERRORISTS

7 June 2017

"Dear Friend of Liberty,

Will Washington, D.C. never learn?

For years now, politicians in BOTH parties have pursued the same misguided policies in their failed effort to control terrorism.

But a quick glance around the world today – from France to Britain to Syria and Iraq – show those efforts are falling flat on their faces. . .

Perhaps no policy is more ridiculous than the practice of selling weapons to those who could use them to do us harm.

Yet, that’s exactly what the U.S. Government is doing right now by “partnering” with Saudi Arabia – even though this authoritarian government continues to finance radical terrorist groups around the world.

Recent news reports tell us the White House is caving to the demands of pro-“status quo” insiders and deep-pocketed lobbyists by making a deal to provide hordes of military equipment to Saudi Arabia.

According to the State Department’s own press release, this will include “tanks, artillery, counter-mortar radars, armored personnel carriers, [and] helicopters.”

Worse, you can virtually guarantee this equipment will fall into the wrong hands. . .

That’s the bad news.  The good news is my son, Senator Rand Paul, has introduced legislation (S.J. Res. 42) to block this deal.

But it won’t happen without your help.

So please stand with Rand and Campaign for Liberty by signing your “NO ARMS FOR TERRORISTS!” Petition to your U.S. Senators.

And make your most generous contribution of $300, $200, or $100 to help Campaign for Liberty’s efforts to stop arming terrorists.

The truth is, if the deal goes through, it will further radicalize the Middle East, create even more displaced refugees – many vulnerable to radicalization – and create new resentments among the people who suffer the consequences of our alliances with authoritarian governments in order to enact “regime change.”

The dirty secret is that Saudi Arabia is expected to use this military equipment for regime change efforts in Yemen.

While we are told the Saudis will use the equipment to fight terrorists, it is more likely to be used to turn Yemen into a base for ISIS and other terrorist groups.

Just like Syria. . .

Just like Libya. . .

And just like Iraq where U.S. troops are still fighting 13 years after launching what we were promised would be a cakewalk.

But despite this sad history, the U.S. Government continues to pursue the same old insane polices that empower terrorists, drain our wallets, and put our safety at risk.

Clearly the only way this policy will change is if WE THE PEOPLE demand that Congress exercise its Constitutional functions and force the president to abandon this failed foreign policy.

That’s why Rand’s legislation (S.J. Res. 42) is so important right now.

Rand is committed to forcing the Senate to vote on it, but to pass it, he needs a massive show of support from the grassroots.

That is why Campaign for Liberty is launching a major program in support of S.J. Res. 42.

If we can raise the funds, we plan to not just support this bill, but run the same type of programs that have been so effective in changing the debate on monetary policy and civil liberties.

As with our other efforts, the key is letting Congress know that the people are watching and expect them to reject the latest scheme to bring so-called “democracy” and “freedom” to the Middle East.

This scheme would only serve to help Saudi Arabia create the type of chaos in which groups like ISIS thrive.

So please sign your NO ARMS FOR TERRORISTS! Petition today.

And if you can, please make your most generous contribution to Campaign for Liberty of $300, $200, or $100.

Your donation will help us mobilize more Americans to put the heat on Congress to do their job and stop the transfer of weapons to a regime with a history of exporting terrorists to its neighbors, Europe, and even to the U.S.

It will take a massive effort to stop this deal.

You see, deals like this don’t just harm our security, they are quite profitable to the large defense contractors who have one of the most effective lobbying operations in Washington, D.C.

These defense contractors are able to fund hordes of K Street lobbyists and think-tanks of left, right, and center that produce heaps of propaganda making the case for this type of intervention and expanding away the policy’s failures.

When I was in Congress, I saw how effective the military-industrial complex’s propaganda operation was. . .

Whenever I dared challenge the status quo on foreign intervention, I was informed that the military-industrial complex’s paid “experts” considered my view “naïve” and that the Founding Fathers’ policy of peace and goodwill to all was “impractical” in the modern world.

I was even once informed by a Congressman who was considered a leading expert on the Constitution that the requirement that Congress declare war was outdated!

Members of Congress told me they felt safe parroting the views of the so-called “experts” because the average American did not care about foreign policy enough to learn the truth behind the establishment’s lies.

So imagine their reaction when the petitions start rolling in from the liberty grassroots telling them the people see through the lies peddled by pro-interventionist think-tanks, lobbying firms, the media, and their paymasters in the military-industrial complex. . .

It will be similar to their reaction when they started getting pressure to support Audit the Fed!

Prior to 2008, the idea that grassroots liberty army would flood Congress with petitions demanding they Audit the Fed was unheard of. . .

But then came Campaign for Liberty. . .

We made Audit the Fed a central issue in American politics, and we turned a rollback of the surveillance state from a fringe idea to a serious policy proposal.

Now it is time for us to do on foreign policy what we did on monetary policy and civil liberties - starting with killing this deal with Saudi Arabia.

Defeating this deal could be the beginning of finally forcing Congress to reassess its role in foreign policy and ending the hyper-interventionist policy that has not made our nation safer.

So please sign your “NO ARMS FOR TERRORISTS!” Petition today.

And make your most generous contribution of $300, $200, or $100 to help Campaign for Liberty stop this deal."

For Liberty,

Ron Paul
Chairman

P.S.  Recent news reports show that the White House is caving to the demands of pro-“status quo” insiders and deep-pocketed lobbyists by making a deal to provide hordes of military equipment to Saudi Arabia.

According to the State Department’s own press release, this will include “tanks, artillery, counter-mortar radars, armored personnel carriers, helicopters.”

Fortunately, my son, Senator Rand Paul, his introduced S.J. Res. 42, which would block this deal.  And Rand is committed to forcing the Senate to vote on it.

But Rand is up against the entire foreign policy establishment, as well as the might of the military-industrial complex.

And the only thing that can overcome those forces is a massive outpouring of support from the liberty grassroots.

So please sign your “NO ARMS FOR TERRORISTS!” Petition to your U.S. Senators.

And make your most generous contribution of $300, $200, or $100.
